Our third network meeting on the topic ‘objects’ took place on 11th and 12th October 2022 in Heidelberg. It was organised by Gustavo Fernandez Riva (Heidelberg University) and Nathanael Busch (Philipps-Universität Marburg). Some members were able to be present at the meeting while others were connected digitally. On the first day of the meeting Sarah Lang (University of Graz) gave an impulse talk on the usage of bibliographic metadata for the development of contents of alchemical texts with the title “Materiality and digitization in the context of the alchemical tradition”. Doris Oltrogge (TH Köln) reported on the subject of materiality in the work with manuscripts from an art historical perspective, supported by her presentation entitled “Objects – sources – contexts – analytics – digital development”. On the second day of the meeting Alberto Compagnolo (Université catholique de Louvain) presented the possibility of archiving and displaying binding structures of manuscripts using VisColl 2.0 and VCEditor. Karin Zimmermann (Heidelberg University Library) kindly provided not only the “Rundzimmer” of the Manuscript Department as a venue for the meeting but also four manuscripts for closer examination and informed about the digitization work of the Heidelberg University Library. Several ideas regarding data archiving and data linkings emerged from this.
